Abstract
In dieser Arbeit werden die Potentiale hypermedialer Systeme für Unterrichtszwecke und speziell für den Fremdsprachenunterricht untersucht.
Die folgenden Fragen leiten dabei die Diskussion:
Entsprechend der Fragestellungen wird im ersten Kapitel ein Abriß der aktuellen Diskussion um die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen des Fremdverstehens gegeben. Ausgehend von dem hermeneutischen Verstehensbegriff wird der Begriff des Interkulturellen und die Kategorie Fremdheit auf den Fremdsprachenunterricht appliziert. Die Auswirkungen eines interkulturellen Konzeptes auf die Lerninhalte und die Lehrmaterialien werden skizziert.
Im zweiten Kapitel werden die Charakteristika des audiovisuellen Mediums Video und des elektronischen Mediums Computer sowie ihre Potentiale und ihre Grenzen im Fremdsprachenunterricht anhand von Beispielen erläutert. Dem geschichtlichen Diskurs über das Hypertextkonzept, der Erläuterung seiner spezifischen Eigenschaften und Strukturelemente folgen Beispiele für prototypische hypermediale Lernprogramme, wobei zwischen dem Genre der interaktiven Erzählung und des interaktiven Dokumentarprogrammes unterschieden wird.
An diese Darstellung schließt sich der Hauptteil der Arbeit, die Konzeption eines hypermedialen Lernprogrammes zu dem Thema "Essen und Trinken in Deutschland", und dessen exemplarische Realisation am Themenaspekt Frühstück an. Im dritten Kapitel werden zunächst die Anforderungen an ein hypermediales System, die Auswahl des Themas "Essen und Trinken" für die Programmvorlage sowie die Integration unterschiedlicher Textsorten und die Auswahl der in das Programm aufgenommenen Materialien begründet. Eine Diskussion der Adressaten und der Einsatzmöglichkeiten schließt sich an.
Inhalt des letzten Kapitels ist eine detaillierte Beschreibung des exemplarisch zu dem Themenaspekt Frühstück umgesetzten hypermedialen Lernprogrammes.

Possibilities and limits of hymedia programs in the process of understanding the foreign.
In this thesis the potential of hypermedia programs for educational purposes and especially for the foreign language classroom are analysed. The discussion focusses on the following questions:
By considering these questions the first chapter outlines the current discussion on the possibilities and limits of understanding the foreign. Based on the hermeneutic definition of understanding the term of interculturality and the category of being foreign are applied to the foreign language classroom. Then the effects of an intercultural curriculum on the contents and material used in the classroom are outlined.
The second chapter describes the characteristics of video as an audiovisual medium and the computer as an electronic one. It also focuses on their potential and limits in the foreign language classroom by giving examples. The development of the hypertext principle as well as its specific characteristics and its elements follows. Examples of prototypes are given and a differentiation is made between the narrative and the documentary mode.
The main part comprises the conception of a hypermedia program which deals with the topic "Eating and Drinking in Germany" and its exemplification of the aspect breakfast. In the third chapter the demands on a hypermedia system are listed and the reasons for the choice of the topic, the selection of the texts and the integrated material are given. A discussion of the target group and possible ways of integration follows.
The last chapter is a detailed description of the aspect breakfast put into practise in which the most important screens are integrated for illustration.
