Czech Republic (1)

The "Gemeinschaft für studentischen Austausch in Mittel- und Osteuropa (GFPS) e. V." offers semester scholarships at Czech universities. Further information can be found here: www.gfps.org/stipendien/tschechien-studium/ .

The "Deutsch-Tschechische Zukunftsfond" offers semester scholarships for students and PhD students. Further information can be found here:





Exchange Programme with the German University Cairo


Students may stay for one or two semesters as 'visiting students' at the German University in Cairo (GUC) without paying any tuition fees. The Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Forschung und Kunst Baden-Württemberg (Baden-Württemberg Ministry for Science, Research and Art) supports participants of the programme with a one-off payment for travel expenses. Caisse d'Allocation Familiale (CAF)
Students at French universities receive, upon application, a living allowance from the local Caisse d'Allocation Familiale (CAF).

Deutsch-Französische Hochschule (German-French University)
The German-French University is not an institution in the literal sense of the word, rather an association of universities from Germany and France, which was founded in 1997. The German-French University finances and coordinates double degree programmes between German and French partner universities. A direct application or enrolment with the DFH is not possible. The funding is obtained solely by participants in one of the DFH-funded courses of study. You can find information on the participating universities on the DFH homepage:  www.dfh-ufa.org

At the University of Mannheim, the Double Degree Programme with the ESSEC Business School in Paris is being funded by the DFH.

Deutsch-Französisches Jugendwerk, DFJW (French-German Youth Foundation)

The French-German Youth Foundation was founded in 1963. Its main task is to strengthen the cooperation between France and Germany and to foster exchange between these countries. They support the following activities during, after, and outside academic studies:


  • Internships in France relevant to your studies (for bachelor students). Future teachers may also receive funding during their masters's studies or the Referendariat if they plan to do an internship in a French school.
  • Scholarships for music students to study in France
  • Intensive French language courses prior to a period of study or work in France

DAAD Scholarship ENA

In cooperation with the Ecole Nationale d'Administration (ENA), the DAAD awards scholarships for highly qualified German graduates. This scholarship is open for all courses of study, offering the possibility to graduate with an interdisciplinary training and a practice-oriented education at the renowned Ecole Nationale d'Administration in Strasburg. There are two separate programmes:

  • Cycle international long (for graduates and qualified juniors with some job experience for the higher service in public management).
  • Cycle international de perfectionnement (for officials and staff of public management who already have a fair amount of job experience)

Great Britain

British Council
The British Council offers scholarships and provides information for students and graduates who would like to study in Great Britain.

Foundation for Studying in Canada
The Foundation for Studying in Canada (Stiftung für Kanada-Studien) provides awards as well as PhD scholarships for qualified junior scientists.

E.ON Scholarship Programme
Since 2014, the existing scholarship programme has been relaunched as scholarship programme in Energy Sciences.

The programme funds studies at Master level as well as Ph.D. studies and research. Bachelor students with very strong achievements in their studies can also apply.

To be eligible, you must have secured an exchange place at one of the participating Norwegian universities (see Call for Application) and your stay must be related to energy scientific matters.

The application deadlines are 15th of February and 15th of October. Applications should be sent directly to the Research Council of Norway


Central and Eastern Europe

Scholarship Programme "Metropolen in Osteuropa"

The Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes awards scholarships in cooperation with the Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Stiftung of about 12-15 scholarships annually. The programme is open to well qualified students of all courses of study (German and EU nationals) for a stay in Central or Eastern Europe (not including Turkey and Greece) of at least 7 months. Application deadline is 15th March for stays abroad from July that year.

Poland (1)


The Polish Ministry for Research and Higher Education is offering scholarships for study and research stays in Poland.

This scholarship is availabe for German students and graduates.

DAAD “Go East” Semester Scholarship


The DAAD’s “Go East” programme allows the University of Mannheim to apply for funding of German students who are spending a semester at a partner university in Russia. The financial support concerns a monthly partial scholarship as well as a one-time travel allowance.

The amount of funds given to the University of Mannheim by the DAAD determines the number of available scholarships. As soon as the university is informed of the amount of granted funds (usually in April), students planning on studying in Russia will receive an e-mail with information concerning the next steps and if a separate scholarship application is necessary.

"Russland in der Praxis" - Scholarship Programme for Work Placements in Russia

The DAAD supports palcements in Russia with a generous scholarship programme. Further information can be found here.






Heyning-Roelli Foundation


This foundation supports gifted, but financially limited students with a contribution to their travel and living costs. Students who are studying in Switzerland at a partner university can apply for funding.

The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) grants scholarships for international students seeking to pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree in Turkey.


The state-run Türkiye Scholarships organisation also offers scholarships for undergraduate or graduate degrees in Turkey:




Fulbright Commission
The Fulbright Commission is providing partial and full scholarships as well as travel assistance for undergraduate students who wish to study in the USA (graduates can only apply for partial funding).
